ASPCA stands for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. ASPCA has been at the forefront of animal rescue and protection since our founding as the first animal welfare organization in North America in 1866. They've led the way in fighting cruelty, rescuing and securing adoptions for animals in need, and driving significant legislative change that protects their lives and welfare—ultimately transforming how Americans value and care for animals. ASPCA is a great charity to work with because they pride themselves on being a respected leader for the protection and welfare of animals.

Animal Welfare Institute

The Animal Welfare Institute is an American non-profit charitable organization founded by Christine Stevens in 1951 with the goal of reducing suffering inflicted on animals by humans. They seek better treatment of animals everywhere— in the laboratory, on the farm, in commerce, at home, and in the wild. AWI is a good charity to work with because they work to prevent commercial exploitation of threatened and endangered species by clamping down on poachers and illegal animal dealers, and to reduce harm to all animals who are traded—whether legally or illegally
